Jonathon Caliguire

"Without a doubt, the highest call on my life is friendship. I see relationships as the most central part of being human. I have found storytelling tremendously helpful in connecting people and inspiring creativity. Photography, film, design, and poetry are my methods of choice. I live in Boulder Colorado, studying Environmental Studies and Technology Arts and Media."

Sydney Noland

"I'm Sydney Noland and I collaborate, design, create and communicate. I specialize in branding, illustration, and digital design solutions. During my college career I have been able to be a part of a variety of spectacular projects at Ball State University. In 2015, I organized and designed, with one other designer, the marketing and branding campaign of the 82nd Annual Juried Student Art Show that helped increase attendance and participation within the student body. Additionally, this past summer I was was able to be a part of a project called Ball State Field Trips, an app that was created to educate elementary students on Indiana’s history in celebration of the state’s bicentennial. While co-leading the design for the project, I was also able to work alongside students in majors other than my own. The app attracted over 251 educators and 6,000 elementary students in 91 different cities within Indiana."

Artists

Art does not reproduce what we see; rather, it makes us see.

Madison King

"I am an Animation major with a minor in Creative Writing here at Ball State University, but I’m originally from Terre Haute, Indiana. I have been drawing consistently since I was eleven, originally because when I was younger I wasn’t the most popular person and art was my outlet. I have always been making up stories, creating characters, and when I starting developing as an artist, those stories and people really shaped me into who I am today. My main goal of my art is to make something you enjoy looking at, whether it be more solemn or bright and colorful. The main goal of my stories is to give you a different way of looking at things. My main goals in terms of career is actually to be a producer, whether it be live action or animated film, as well as publish as an author. I am in the process of rewriting my book series LAPIS, which I hope to get into the publishing process before I graduate. It’s LAPIS in particular that has really helped me discover a lot about the world around me, and I love to have the chance to share my characters and their world with everyone. I have won a few poetry contests, was an honorable mention in a state art competition my senior year, and last semester my work was featured in Ball State’s digital literary magazine Rethinking Children's & YA Lit. Other fun facts about me include: I have an additional 20 plus storylines I hope to one day get to, at last count I have over 200 original characters, I am fortunate to have both a protective older brother and a hilarious little sister (yes I am a middle child), I have been to Japan (and hope I get to go back), I am a soprano, my favorite YouTuber is Philip DeFranco, favorite movie is How to Train Your Dragon 2, I love Panic! At the Disco, I have a forever puppy of a Golden Retriever named Hoosier, my mother is the only person I’ve spoken to consistently every day since I got to college, and my dad was the lead announcer for the Indianapolis 500 Radio Network for over fifteen years."

Kassandra Paape

"My Name is Kassandra,

I work with different programs like InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop to design professional work. I’ve also experimented with different types of media using paint, glass, and even laser cut acrylic. My favorite class I’ve taken at Ball State is currently darkroom photography, I love learning new techniques and experimenting with my Pentax. I also enjoy writing and like to incorporate that into my work when it’s possible.

When I’m not creating, I can be found curled up in a corner reading."

Bobby Bennett

"I think I remember doing a project when I was younger (like early grade school age) in which we had to make some kind of little statue of our future selves with our dream career(s) written at the bottom. After combing a toilet paper roll, some gum, and a Lego movie director character, the little statue of my future self was complete. The bottom of it had a description that read off 3 potential careers: Director, Artist, Inventor. Fast forward to today, and soon after graduating from BSU I took a job at Union Chapel as their Creative Arts Director. So, while I’m doing none of those things directly as I had envisioned, it’s a really sweet place to be that says a lot about who I am now. I find creating so exciting and to do it in a way that sheds light on our Creator is the kind of thing that gets me up in the morning. That’s taken the form of drawing, writing, photography, filmmaking, and music most often in my life and I enjoy figuring out how to do that with others. A few other random things about myself: 2001: A Space Odyssey is one of my favorite movies, twenty one pilots is fuel for my soul, I’m slowly learning to play drums (and loving it!), I quote C.S. Lewis and Tim Keller too often, and I’ve been told I look like John Green (still haven’t read any of his books, though)."
